So this week was AWESOME. We had Stake conference and Zone conference so basically I’m on a spiritual high… Oh WAIT I’M ALWAYS ON A SPIRITUAL HIGH BC I’M A MISSIONARY!!!! I’m serious y’all, I’ve never been more happy or thankful in my entire life. Stake conference was AWESOME. It was all focused on temples and the blessings that they are in our lives. Our stake President described attending the temple as our “crowning ordinance” and that NO ONE can leave the temple with out becoming a better person. I would urge each and everyone of you that have access to temples to take advantage of them!! I cannot BELIEVE I lived in Utah for so long and didn’t go to the temple more, so learn from my mistakes AND PLEASE make temple attendance a priority! OH HEY speaking of temples I get to go to the Fresno temple tomorrow with my zone. # PARTY!! I’m so excited I can hardly wait!
Also related to Temples this week… FAMILY HISTORY U GUESSED IT!!! Ok I’m not gonna lie to y’all, b4 the mish ya gurl didn’t have the solidest testimony on Family History… MOSTLY bc I was too lazy to ever start BUT since coming out here I’ve realized JUST how important it is. You are LITERALLY helping your ancestors receive SAVING ordinances. THEY need US in order to progress. SO HOP ON IT PEEPS!!
My mission President, President Clark, spoke a lot about the Savior this week at zone conference. He explained that as we come to grow our faith in and love our Savior Jesus Christ that we will want to EMULATE Him. This isn’t a one time thing. In every choice we make and in everything we say are we emulating Him? When we “emulate” Him we show our gratitude for all that He has done because we are TRYING to be like Him. Our character is compromised of all these little things we do and say so in order to EMULATE Christ President invited us to learn more about not only Him, but to learn more about his character. So I’ve been studying the 4 gospels and the Book of Mormon searching for these examples. Ugh I just love the scriptures, they contain so much power! As I’ve come to study more about Christ and the things that He did and suffered, I can firmly say that I’m coming to KNOW my Savior, and not just about Him. I’m not perfect and sometimes I feel like I let people down because my Spanish isn’t good enough, or I don’t write people enough, or my testimony isn’t strong enough or whatever, but I just want you all to know that whatever things you aren’t “good enough for”, the Savior is. Let Him help you reach your potential, and know that with Him on your team you can do ANYTHING!
Hmm what else… oh ya so we went to a less active sister’s house this week and when we walked up to the door I heard someone say “she doesn’t look like a nun”. Apparently her daughter didn’t realize the window was open lol. I don’t even know, I just thought it was so funny:)
Ok I will leave y’all with a couple of my fave quotes from Zone Conference this week bc I didn’t take any pics oops sorry BUT STAYED TUNED FOR NEXT WEEK!!! WE got a baptisim and I’ll send pics from the temple… it will be lit 4 sure
Howdy y’all!!! Its gr8 to be back on the emails, sorry I missed ya last week. Last Pday a family took me and the comp to the Zoo in Fresno and we got back pretty late so I only had like 30 mins to email!!! I READ ALL YOUR EMAILS DON’T WORRY but I pretty much only responded to my momma so sorry bout it
Guys serving a mission is the best thing I have ever been able to be a part of! I love serving each and everyday and going to bed tired and growing my relationship and faith in my savior Jesus Christ, each and every day!!
So I went on my 1st exchange this week and that was pretty fun! I went to Coalinga, which is even smaller than Lemoore haha. But it was lit. The gal there is an English sister so it was all in ENGLISH which was a breath of fresh air!!
Last Saturday the English Elders in our area had a Baptism that we got to go to, WHICH WAS FREAKING AWESOME!!! Sister Jefferies and I got to do the “halftime show” while everyone was changing so that was a cool opportunity!!
We went to a Trainer and Trainee meeting down in Fresno this week as well which was super cool!! They separated us and asked us what we were struggling with and the whole time I just felt SO DARN LUCKY!! A lot of missionaries struggle with comps, areas, homesickness etc.. and they’re like “don’t worry it gets better” and I’m like “IT GETS BETTER THAN THIS???” Anyways I love being a missionary and I love Lemoore and my companion and this WEATHER. It’s fall and 70’s its PERFECT and there’s lots of pretty colors I’d say I’m pretty much in heaven!!
LADIES AND GENTLEMEN I AM COMING AT Y’ALL LIVE FROM THE US OF A!!!!! I made it to Fresno last Wednesday and it has been a roller coaster ride!!!! I don’t have tons of time, but I’ll try to hit the highlights for y’all!!!
So I left the CCM at 2 in the morning to catch our flight that left at 6am. So that was fun and early haha. The flight was good, we had a lay over in Dallas so it was awesome to see the gr8 state of TX one last time!! We got to Fresno around noon and it was just GO GO GO til that night!!! I met my Mission President- President Clark and his Wife- They are AWESOME!!! Seriously so warm, welcoming, and personable… They made me feel right at home!!! After a quick lunch all the newbies went out and street contacted for a little, it was great! I had a great conversation with an older gentleman named David and was even able to invite him to be baptized ( I know y’all are probably so impressed, so I guess I should tell you it was in English haha) But ya it was a really neat experience!! Later that day I met my trainer sister Jefferies and she is SO AWESOME!!! Our companionship was definitely inspired. She is from TX too so it really doesn’t get much better than that. She has already taught me so much and I can’t wait to learn more from her!
So we are serving in an area called Lemoore CA. Its a lil South of Fresno and it is awesome!! It’s kind of a run down I guess you would say “town”?? We go to trailer parks all the time and there are lots of stray cats and dogs haha but IT’S PERFECT. I love it and I know that I have a purpose in being here right now! So it’s what we call a “zebra” town, which means I’m speaking lots of Spanish BUT also lots of English, there is a pretty good mix. Our ward actually has two English elders too, so it’s pretty fun! We stay really busy, and Hermana Jefferies is exactly obedient and so we really try our hardest to be the best missionaries we can be! We are busy ALL day. We start by waking up at 6:15 and we run for 20 mins, do a plank for 2 mins, and cardio for 10. That’s a mission rule haha, so I guess I better learn to love running!!! Nah jk it’s been a really good way to start the day!!
UGH the people!! They are so awesome! As I have continued developing my own testimony and Christlike attributes, it has been easier to see the people I’m serving as daughters and sons of God, and my brothers and sisters. I sincerely desire to let each and every one of them know how much their Heavenly Father loves them! We have had some great experiences so far.
ALSO I HOPE Y’ALL WATCHED GENERAL CONFERENCE BC IT WAS LIT!!! Pls go check out the highlights of all the talks on LDS.org if you missed it. I know their words will bring you blessings on blessings!! I watched a session (all in English) with a new convert, Lupe, and her three kids. Then one session at the church and then one with a less active and one with some really nice solid families from the ward!!! I learned so much, it was amazing !!!
Aight there is like seriously no time but I’LL talk to y’all next week and my Preperation Day is Monday so HMU on the emails!!!!
